Blissful Day of a Week- March 24, 1778

It's been a long day for me and I'm very very exhausted from work. This is my only rest after the whole day of labor. How I wish I have longer break but I don't. It's not bad at all, because I'm getting paid. Not unlike what my mother experienced, when she was a slave. I still feel sorry for her, but now I'm doing something to help her. I don't feel like letting her do all the work after all she's done in her part helping me, and now it's my responsibility of giving back what she gave me.
Later, I have to go the market to buy foods which I can afford, and give it to my mother. As always getting there is no fun at all. Sometimes I walk and it's almost 2-3 kilometers away from home and if I'm going to start here in my honcho's place, it will take me forever before I get there. It depends how fast I walk and the faster I get there of course the better, because I have a lot of choices to make. The vegetables which are freshly picked from the ground are really really good and that is what my mother like all the time. It's always crowded in the market. As what I always expected, since Kanawha county is the most populous place here in West Virginia. If I come late I barely buy something in our market. When I buy meat for the two of us, it's already a party, a big or special celebration for us. Our money is just enough for us to survive and for our basic needs and I'm already happy for it.
I wonder what mum is doing when I reached our home. She usually cleans our house after working as a servant. Sometimes she talked to our neighbor who is a friend of her for almost 2 years. Her name is Elizabeth Smith and they met each other in the slave field of tobacco. She's pretty nice and her daughter is also my friend. There family story is similar to ours. She became pregnant and was left by her husband after knowing that situation. That is really a bad luck for both of our family.
Where were into is just part of our destiny. Just be optimistic and behind all our sacrifices there is a good thing that is going to happen in the right day and the right time.
